Accessing private data hosted by MapMart On-Demand™
MapMart can host data and imagery owned by a company to provide fast, secure and reliable access to their imagery. Such data is indexed, catalogued and compressed to ensure the optimum quality and data size for transmission over the web. MapMart On-Demand™ offers the following advantages over traditional image delivery mechanisms:
- Optimized and fast access to raster imagery.
- Multiple methods of accessing imagery via ArcMap toolbar, WMS, Web Services.
- Secure access to data.
- Hardware and software redundancy to ensure maximum uptime.
- Regular updates of datasets.
- View your company’s data along with the latest commercial and public domain data.
The rest of this section describes how to access a customer’s private data hosted by MapMart On-Demand™.
After defining the AOI, click on the View Available Data button (
) to bring up the list of available data options. The table is divided into tabs based on the product type. The first tab which reads “Your Company Data” is reserved to display data owned by a client and can be customized to subscribers. This tab will display login fields where users that have set up MapMart On-Demand™ accounts can login to access their company’s data. Logging in will automatically access and display the data for the current AOI. The user will stay logged in to the Toolbar as long as the session of ArcMap is open.

This category of datasets works similarly to other product categories save two main differences:
- No watermarks will be displayed on the client-owned datasets.
- Clients will be able to use those datasets while working in an edit session.
Custom datasets can be delivered to clients for offline use. The delivery is dependent on the file size of the raster dataset that would be generated for the current AOI. The data will be automatically processed and delivered via an email link to an FTP site if the file size is within reasonable limits. All other data orders will be placed on media and mailed to the client’s address on file.
To obtain an offline copy of the Company’s data, add a product to the shopping cart by checking the “Update” or “Add to Cart” box for the desired product. Clicking on the Shopping Cart button (
) will display all products currently in the shopping cart. The shopping cart will display both new and client-owned data sets in the same manner. The client-owned data will be made available for download at no charge via FTP. If the data set as requested is too large for FTP, a charge for media and shipment will be incurred. This shipment will be combined with any new data purchased at the same time to minimize costs.
Purchasing Imagery (
)
Step 1 – Shopping Cart: Once all data selections have been made and sent to the Shopping Cart, a user can view the contents by clicking on the Shopping Cart button ( ). This will show a pop-up summarizing the data selections. A user can select projection, datum and format for each data set and also remove any data sets if necessary. Once the data selections are complete, click the Go To Step 2 >> button in the lower right.

Step 2 – User Information: A user account is needed for obtaining data. A user can login or create a new account on this screen. Password retrieval and editing account details are also options on this screen. The billing address details are fixed in this screen to help streamline the order process but can be edited in the account details if needed. Once the account information is entered, click the Go To Step 3 >> button in the lower right.

Step 3 --- Check Out: This is a summary of the request. To make changes, a user can use the buttons in the lower left to go back to previous steps or may use the top tabs to go back to the section where changes are needed. Check that all details are correct and select a delivery method (FTP is free; shipment on media will incur the appropriate charges). A user can then select a payment method for the request. The options are using a credit card online (for security reasons, MapMart On-Demand does not store any credit card information nor does Authorize.net, the secure serviced used by MapMart On-Demand for processing payment) or payment by phone where other options can be arranged.

User Settings (
)
The user settings window provides access to options to filter what data the map displays. An option to change the location of temporary workspace that the toolbar uses to save files is available as well.
